Kelkar "वसईची मोहीम" (2008) is a good start for the Maratha-Portuguese War (1737 - 1739 A.D.) but the Chronology in the book remains highly problematic due to his erroneous dealing of the Gregorian and Julian Calendars. Kulkarni does not lose the relevance as it is the first mature work on the Portuguese Remains in the area. In the Section of Architecture, the present appearance of the Madh Fort is described with some minor errors, but the issue of how the Fort has acquired the present form is left unanswered.
Kelkar's "वसईची मोहीम" (2008) and the Gazetteers, has inherited the same Chronological faults of the parent works he cited. His pioneering work, due to his complete and uncritical reliance on Shri. Kulkarni of the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Maharashtra has briefly dealt with the few Portuguese Remains at Madh Island in his book "मुंबई परिसरातील अर्थात एकेकाळच्या फिरंगाणातील किल्ले" (2009).
Before this Article, no satisfactory literature on the area was available. The Article, as the Readers will find, goes on to discuss the Historical transformation that the Madh Island and Versova underwent through in the different time periods. Note The Article “The Witnesses of Ages - Archaeology of the Madh Island and Versova, Mumbai Suburban District" has assumed the present form after the Author presented a paper bearing the same title in the Workshop "Explorations in Maharashtra" organized by the Centre for Extra Mural Studies, Mumbai University on 6th July, 2014.
